Financing Humanitarian Aid

It was a privilege to attend a lecture given by Ms. Houdet Ludivine (Medecins Sans Frontieres (Taiwan) Executive Director), someone who has the job many of us aspire to achieve during our professional career. Personally, I decided to take the NGOs and international agencies response to the global health challenges class to have a better and more complete understanding about what a job in an NGO requires. Professor Sharlenna has exceeded my expectations of the class. With her experience and topic selection she is truly preparing us to follow this professional path.

The lecture on Financing Humanitarian Aid by Ms Ludivine gave us a very clear picture of what MSF does and how they fund their mission. Funding is one of the most complex competences we all need to acquire, and this lecture was very valuable for our endeavor. She comprehensively elaborated in the principles of funding the NGO follows and a brief picture of the fundraising path: who and how to fund for humanitarian crisis - for big NGOs like MSF but also for new and small ones.

It was an amazing opportunity that has definitely added to my academic preparation on my way to become an excellent project manager for an NGO.

It is extraordinary to be able to have the opportunity to have direct contact with important professionals as Ms. Houdet. Her vast knowledge in the management of INGOs is of the utmost importance to be able to have a global vision of their management, to know the trends and to know in depth directly from the experience.

I think IHP does an excellent job of providing us with international readings with actors that add to our knowledge and understanding of public health.
