Here are some feedbacks of our first-year Ph. D student, Antonio Coyoc from Belize.

Last Friday the 12th of May as part of our Introduction to applied vaccinology our class had the privilege to travel to Hsinchu to visit the Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corporation (MVC) which is a biopharmaceutical company established in 2016. We were warmly greeted by Professor Allen Chia En Lien, MD, DrPH (Vice-President of International and Governmental Affairs, Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp) and had the privilege to have Mr. Robert Midence, PhD. (Quality Compliance Associate Director) who gave us a presentation about the company. 

Mr. Midence made mention that the company is known for the development and mass production of vaccines and biologics.  We also learnt that Medigen develops vaccines which are indicated for the prevention and treatment of emerging infectious diseases like COVID-19 and diseases caused by the Enterovirus A71 virus, Dengue, and Influenza, learnt also is that the company uses GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) which allows them to provide quality, consistency, and safety in the development, manufacturing, and distribution of medicines.  

We then had a tour of the facility which made the presentation more appreciated and immensely beneficial. It was an excellent opportunity to experience an environment that prioritizes safety and effectiveness of vaccines.

I benefited greatly from this trip and learnt so much about the company, I thank Dr. Allen Chia En Lien and Mr. Robert Midence who opened the doors to MVC. It is clearly observed that the organizations have been working diligently to make information about MVC available and accessible.  

I also need to thank our chaperones Kelly and Sue for their continued support and recognition of our incredibly dedicated team at IHP.
