PhD Progress Reports Dec. 16, 2022
2022-12-16
PhD Progress Report was a special occasion for all PhD students.
We have opportunities to present our studies in a constructive environment, where professors and classmates will give helpful feedback as well as contributive insights. We have chances to review and reflect on our studies, to broaden the viewpoints, then to sharpen our understanding and interpretation of our findings. We’ve also learned from other presenters on their study progress. We do acknowledge and share the challenges throughout the process of conducting the PhD projects. Yet, we all have the consistent supports of our advisors and colleges. We’re sharing the happiness when listening to how our PhD students has come through all the difficulties to get the IRB approval, to collect the data, to step by step completing the projects.
During the Progress report on Dec 16 th, we had two PhD candidates presents studies on the factors influencing on Medical Tourisms and the impact of Coinsurance policy on people’s healthcare seeking behaviors. It was so admiring on how Vivi has pursued the topic on Medical Tourisms and how she has tried to interview the participants. Similarly, I was so surprised on how Nguyen from Vietnam can get all the data that is valuable for his study on coinsurance policy and healthcare usage frequency on the levels of province, district, and commune. With their great efforts, their findings would definitely contribute to the fields.
Whenever being in a PhD progress report, I’m full of excitement and gratitude.
Thank you IHP for holding such special activity for all PhD students!

I recently got the opportunity to attend the seminar for PHD candidates progress report for the international health program. The presenters delivered clear, relevant and crucial research topics especially in the era of the COVID 19 PANDEMIC where a number of health systems were disrupted. The pandemic in deed opened a window of opportunity for countries to re-evaluate and re-implement relevant policies. The dedication and hard work in preparation for the presentation was clearly displayed by the two candidates that presented .
The first speaker presented about the medical tourism in taiwan, an analysis of a previous unsuccessful bill along with potential solutions in the post COVID 19 era. I strongly believe this is a very crucial topic especially for the purposes of recovery of health systems post COVID 19, she delivered an outstanding presentation with new and relevant insights.
The second speaker gave a presentation on usage of healthcare in various dimensions post implementation of a health policy in his country. The presenter also gave an excellent presentation. I will definitely attend again in the future for exposure to new insights especially those not so common in my context.
